Welcome to the Rasor Library, where students are encouraged to wonder, read, explore, and discover more about the world around them. Through books, technology, and engaging learning activities, we encourage curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset.

Students enjoy the opportunity to discover new authors, read a variety of genres, self select their reading, and collaborate with their peers during library activities.

Because reading aloud is one of the most important ways we can support all readers, I make it a priority in the library. Students in all grades enjoy hearing books read aloud. Not only is reading aloud fun, but it also helps build important foundational skills, introduces new vocabulary, models fluent and expressive reading, and shows students just how wonderful reading for pleasure can be!

LIBRARY SKILLS:

These lessons focus on building foundational literacy, fostering a lifelong love of reading, and teaching students how to independently navigate the library space.

INQUIRY/RESEARCH SKILLS:

These lessons empower students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and curious investigators. Grounded in the research process, students learn how to formulate questions, locate and evaluate information, and synthesize their finding.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP:

These lessons focus on developing the ability to use technology safely, responsibly, and effectively by protecting privacy and security, communicating respectfully, maintaining healthy media balance, and evaluating information and media critically.
